I am interested in the luminal spaces within landscape created by natural transitions; those uncertain, indeterminate spaces caught between one world and another. My work is descriptive of form, light and place in an atmospheric way. I want to convey a sense of a scene from which it is possible to find a personal space and interpretation from within. The materials and the image that is formed are integral, one makes the other and the interplay of materials and surface are an important aspect of the dialogue.
I travel to collect ideas but the heart of my inspiration comes from home. I live by the docks in the seaside port of Teignmouth, my garden lies adjacent to where salt meets fresh water and land melts into sea. It is an intimate place of constant physical change and human transaction within the infinite possibilities the world can offer.
After finishing my degree I ran my own textile design business, producing designs and concepts for the home furnishing market, selling worldwide. I now teach part time alongside my personal practice.
